I just learned that Laura Esquivel–author of Like Water for Chocolate–lost her race to represent Mexico City in the Mexican congress. I hadn’t even realized she was running.

Since World Poetry Day was just a couple of days ago, we thought it appropriate that this Rare Book Thursday, we shared some poetry with you all!

This week in rare children's literature, we've got this little gem, The Boy Fortune Hunters in Yucatan by Floyd Akers. This particular copy is a first edition published in 1910, which makes it very special, but what you may or may not know is that Floyd Akers is actually a pseudonym for Frank L. Baum, most known for writing The Wonderful Wizard of Oz!
