Covid-19 Update:
We are accepting book drop-offs daily between 10am-7pm. For larger collections (6 or more boxes) please call the store to make an appointment, 612-822-4611. For smaller collections (5 or fewer boxes) drop-ins are welcome and the seller may be able to wait while a buyer puts together an offer.
All books must be in sturdy containers, ideally cardboard boxes with tops that can easily be lifted by the average adult.
All offers are final. Books that we cannot resell will be disposed of, unless the seller makes explicit arrangements to pick them up within 24 hours of completion of the buy.
Offers of less than $10 will be eligible for store credit. Larger offers will be eligible for store credit or payment via check. Checks will be mailed and may take up to two weeks to arrive.
Please note: It’s difficult to say over the phone what titles we may or may not be interested in at any given time. Generally, books must be clean and in good shape, but it is necessary to see books in person to determine their salability and value.
Large collections (800+ books): For selling substantial collections of quality books in the vicinity of the Twin Cities, we may be willing to send a book buyer to your home. Please contact us, and tell us roughly the number of books and their subject matter. (To quickly calculate a rough number, simply count the books on two shelves and divide by 2 to get an average number per shelf. Then multiply the average by the number of shelves you have to get a rough total.) We may be interested in seeing photos of your bookshelves, giving a general idea of the size, nature, and condition of the collection (no need for lists or photos of individual books). If we are able to send someone, it will be necessary to schedule in advance.
Magers and Quinn buys quality used books 7 days a week!
We buy quality books which are still in demand. We also buy scarce and collectible editions and academic and scholarly books. Condition is important. Paperbacks should be in very good or better condition. All books should be clean and without damage caused by moisture or smoke, including mold, mildew, and strong odors.
One of our experienced buyers will examine each of your books and make a decision whether or not to buy it, based on its content, condition, salability, and our current inventory status.
Please note: It’s difficult to say what titles we may or may not be interested in at any given time. And it is virtually impossible to make an appraisal over the phone. It is necessary to see all the relevant factors involved in determining the salability and value of a book.
In most cases, we are unable to purchase the following:
– Most encyclopedias
– Old textbooks
– Reader’s Digest “condensed” editions
– Time-Life series books
– Most academic journals
– Magazines
